Overview
The
Company commenced business as a manufacturer
and supplier of formaldehyde based resins
to the wood working industries in 1970 under
the name of Norsechem (M) Sdn. Bhd. Norsechem
(M) Sdn. Bhd. was incorporated on 25th June
1969 as a joint-venture company between two
Norwegian companies (viz: The Overseas Company
Ltd. and A/S Jotun Odd Gleditsch) and Summit
Holdings Sdn. Bhd.
The
Company begins operation at the Shah Alam
site with an operating capacity of 10,000
M/T (37%) formalin and 24,000 MT resins.
In 1979, the company was listed on the Kuala
Lumpur Stock Exchange as Norsechem (M) Berhad.
In 1986, the company was restructured whereby
Norsechem (M) Berhad was converted into a
holding investment company and a new entity;
Norsechem Resins Sdn Berhad. was incorporated
to take over the manufacturing operations
for formaldehyde based resins.
In
1993 Norsechem Resins Sdn Berhad. (NR), embarked
on an expansion programme to increase its
capacity to 33,000 MT formalin (37%) and
45,000 MT resins per annum. The new plant,
located at Bandar Sultan Suleiman, Port Klang
was operational in 1994. Since end 1994,
all operation staff and equipment were shifted
to the new factory site and the company now
only operates at the new site. The formalin (37%) capacity was further expanded to 49,000 MT per annum in 2006.
The
Company now maintains a modern production
facility as well as fully-quipped laboratory
to carry out research and development as
well as to provide customer technical services.

manufacturing and supplying
a full range of urea-formaldehyde,
phenol formaldehyde,
melamine-formaldehyde,
melamine-urea formaldehyde
and phenol resorcinol formaldehyde
resins. Its principal trademarks
are ‘Norphen’, ‘Noramin’, ‘Norres’ and ‘Normel’ which
are well known among the
industrial users of adhesive
products.
